The Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala Arunachal Branch was established in the year 2003 under the blessings of Most Venerable Acharya Buddharakkhita, the founder president of Mahabodhi Organisations, Bengaluru. It is a branch of Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala Bengaluru. The main objective of Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala branch is to help the poor and needy people of the North East. Initially, Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala started its school and hostel activities in bamboo huts. Later on, with the generous support of the villagers and well-wishers Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala acquired 29 acres of land at Jyotipur village in Diyun circle.
